The Dolomites in mid-October are a photographer’s paradise of autumn colour: golden larch forests, crisp mountain air, and dramatic peaks catching soft sunrise and sunset light. By this time of year, the crowds have thinned, the atmosphere is calmer, and the landscape glows with warm seasonal tones—perfect for capturing mood, depth, and striking mountain scenes. This workshop places you in the heart of that transformation, surrounded by jagged summits, reflective lakes, and valleys painted in gold.

What truly sets this workshop apart is our commitment to personal guidance and one-to-one coaching in the field. Many tours bring participants to the right locations but leave them to figure things out while the instructors focus on their own images. We do the opposite. Your progress—and your photographs—come first. Throughout every sunrise, sunset, and on-location session, we work closely with you to refine composition, master natural light, and build confidence in challenging mountain conditions.

With thoughtful planning, a supportive small group, and two dedicated instructors by your side, you’ll experience the Dolomites at one of their most atmospheric times of year—and return home with a portfolio of autumn mountain landscapes you can be proud of.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN AT THE WORKSHOP

  • Crafting strong, purposeful landscape compositions with depth and intention.

  • Creating a cohesive set of images with guidance from two instructors.

Ambitions & Goals

This workshop is about your growth and your images. Many photo tours emphasize being at the right location at the right time — but then the instructors often focus on taking their own shots. Our philosophy is different. We’re there to guide you personally, whether that means:

  • fine-tuning your composition on the spot,

  • helping you master camera settings in tricky light, or

  • offering constructive feedback as you work.

With a small-group format (maximum six participants per instructor), you’ll receive close personal attention and one-to-one coaching every day. The aim is for every participant to return home with portfolio-worthy photographs and new confidence in their skills.

Equally important is the community: the workshop is a shared learning and inspiration experience. You’ll not only improve your photography, but also enjoy the camaraderie of shooting and dining together in one of the world’s most photogenic cities

Because the workshop moves through several regions (Misurina, Cortina, Braies, Val Gardena), accommodations will be booked in multiple hotels instead of one central base.

  • Most days are built around the best light, with a flexible plan that adapts to weather and the group’s pace. A typical day may include:

    • Sunrise shoot (early start at a nearby viewpoint)

    • Breakfast + rest

    • Sunset / blue hour shoot

    • Optional evening review or discussion

On transfer days, we’ll move to a new base in the Dolomites. We keep these days efficient and still include photography:

    • short stops at scenic locations along the way

    • an afternoon/evening shoot near the new base (and sunrise the next morning)

We share the plan in advance so you always know what’s coming next.

  • Transport between bases and to shooting locations is arranged in comfortable vans, making it easy to reach a wide range of locations without stress. We also plan the logistics so you can focus on photography.

  • This isn’t a hiking-heavy workshop, but some locations do involve short walks or moderate trails. Expect a mix of steps, rocky paths, and gentle inclines. You should feel comfortable carrying your camera gear for short distances.

There’s also an optional hike of about 1.5 hours for anyone who wants to reach more remote viewpoints. It includes moderate elevation changes but offers some of the best photo opportunities of the trip.

  • Mountain weather can change quickly, and we plan for that. If conditions shift, we adapt by:

    • changing locations to match the light and cloud level

    • using forests, lakes, waterfalls, and moody scenes that work well in overcast/rain

    • adjusting timing to shoot during the best windows

You’ll still get strong shooting opportunities. description

  • This workshop works well for enthusiastic beginners through advanced photographers.

You don’t need to be an expert, but it helps if you’re comfortable with basic camera controls (aperture, shutter speed, ISO). We’ll meet you where you are and help you improve your technique and confidence.

If you’re unsure about gear, send us a quick note before departure and we’ll help you pack smart.

  • Yes — you’re welcome to bring a partner or spouse, as long as we have availability (they take up a seat in the vans).

A non-photographing partner can join the trip at a $1,000 discount compared to the standard workshop fee. They’re welcome to join the outdoor sessions and enjoy the locations with the group, but coaching and tutoring are reserved for registered photography participants.

Accommodation for partners is not included. If you’re sharing a room, we’ll invoice the additional cost for double occupancy (the exact amount depends on the room setup at each hotel).

Please let us know at the time of booking so we can reserve the right room arrangement.
