Paris Photography Workshop
Paris is one of the great cities for photography. Its architecture, river views, bridges, cafés, markets, hidden streets, and daily life offer endless possibilities for both cityscape and street photography.
This workshop is designed for photographers who want more than simply visiting famous locations. We help you slow down, observe, compose, and work with light, gesture, timing, layers, and atmosphere. You will photograph iconic Paris viewpoints, but also quieter streets, local neighborhoods, everyday scenes, and visual details that give the city its character.
With two instructors and a maximum of 12 participants, the group stays small enough for personal guidance throughout the week. Our aim is to help you come home with strong images from Paris, but also with more confidence and a clearer way of seeing.

Why join this workshop
Paris rewards photographers who take the time to look beyond the obvious. The same city can offer clean architectural compositions at sunrise, layered street scenes in the afternoon, reflections along the Seine after rain, and elegant blue hour cityscapes in the evening.
During this workshop, we combine carefully chosen locations with hands-on guidance in the field. You will learn how to work a scene rather than simply take one photo and move on. We help you think about composition, focal length, timing, camera settings, light direction, background control, and how to create images with mood and intention.
The workshop includes both cityscape photography and street photography. Some sessions focus on classic Paris views, bridges, architecture, and skyline compositions. Other sessions are more about people, movement, gesture, cafés, markets, small stories, and the rhythm of the city.
You do not need to be an experienced street photographer to join. We work in a calm and respectful way, with practical guidance that helps you become more comfortable photographing everyday life in public spaces.

This workshop is suitable for enthusiastic beginners, intermediate photographers, and advanced photographers who want personal guidance in both cityscape and street photography.
You do not need to be an expert, but it helps if you are comfortable with the basic camera controls: aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and focus. We will meet you where you are and help you improve from your current level.

This may not be the right workshop if you prefer a slow sightseeing trip with very little walking, or if you do not enjoy early starts and evening photography sessions. Paris is a walking city, and we will spend a good amount of time on our feet.
A typical day rhythm
Our schedule is built around light, atmosphere, and the natural rhythm of the city.
We often begin early, when Paris is quieter and the light is soft. These morning sessions are ideal for cityscapes, architecture, bridges, river views, and classic locations without the busiest crowds.
After breakfast, we may take a break, discuss images, or move into a guided street photography session in a selected neighborhood. The middle of the day is often useful for markets, cafés, public spaces, details, people, and visual storytelling.
In the late afternoon and evening, we head out again for golden hour, blue hour, reflections, city lights, and stronger atmosphere.
The exact schedule may change depending on weather, light, local conditions, and the pace of the group. We keep the plan flexible so we can make the most of the best photographic opportunities.
Day 1 (May 6):
Arrival & Sunset on the Seine
Your first glimpse of Paris — where golden light meets the river and cameras come alive.
Arrival, welcome, and introductions at the hotel. The workshop starts at 3 PM, giving everyone time to settle in before we head out.
Late afternoon: a guided walk along the Seine to warm up the cameras — Pont Neuf, Pont des Arts, and views of Notre Dame. Perfect for mixing cityscapes with candid street moments.
Group dinner at a Parisian bistro, setting the tone for the week ahead.
Day 2 (May 7):
Eiffel Tower Sunrise & Street Life
We chase morning light over the city’s rooftops, then dive into the rhythm of Parisian streets.
Sunrise at Trocadéro & Avenue de Camoëns — iconic Eiffel Tower views with soft morning light.
After breakfast: street photography session in Île de la Cité, capturing daily life, flower markets, and riverside moments.
Afternoon downtime or optional editing review.
Day 3 (May 8):
Montmartre Charm
From quiet courtyards to lively stairways, discover Paris through the eyes of its artists.
Sunrise at the Louvre courtyards, exploring symmetry, long shadows, and quiet morning atmosphere.
Daytime: guided exploration of Montmartre — Rue Foyatier’s stairways, La Maison Rose café, street artists at Place du Tertre. Focus on candid portraits and storytelling.
Sunset at Sacré-Cœur, capturing panoramic views over Paris as the city lights start to glow.
Day 4 (May 9):
Hidden Paris & Eiffel Views
We wander off the beaten path, finding light, lines, and stories behind Paris’s elegant façades.
Sunrise at Place Vendôme or Palais Royal — elegant architecture and morning light play.
Late morning: street photography in Le Marais — boutique-lined streets, café culture, and historic courtyards.
Sunset at Bir-Hakeim Bridge, framing the Eiffel Tower through steel arches for dramatic compositions.
Day 5 (May 10):
Markets, Showcase & Farewell Evening
A day of color, community, and reflection — celebrating images and friendships made along the way.
Morning at Rue Mouffetard street market, practicing dynamic street photography — vendors, colors, and everyday Parisian life.
Afternoon: group showcase session with feedback and discussion. Each participant shares favorite images and lessons learned.
Evening: final shoot around La Défense’s striking modern architecture and skyline, followed by a farewell dinner at a nearby Parisian restaurant.
Day 6 (may 11):
Final Sunrise & Departure
Our last dawn in Paris — one more chance to capture the city waking up in golden light.
Optional sunrise at Pont Alexandre III, with sweeping views of the Seine and the city skyline.
Return to hotel for breakfast and goodbyes. The workshop ends at 12 PM, giving everyone time to pack up and head out at their own pace.
Ambitions & Goals
This workshop is about helping you grow as a photographer.
Many photo tours focus mainly on getting participants to attractive places. That matters, of course, but our approach goes further. We are there to guide you in the field, help you make decisions, and support you while you photograph.
That might mean helping you refine a cityscape composition, choose a better focal length, simplify a busy scene, wait for the right gesture, work with difficult light, or become more comfortable photographing people in public spaces.
With two instructors and a small group, you receive personal guidance throughout the workshop. Our goal is that you return home with photographs you are proud of, but also with more confidence, stronger visual awareness, and practical skills you can use in any city.

Daria is a photographer living in Paris, where she has been based since 2014. Originally from Toronto and with a background in engineering and education, she currently teaches mathematics at the American School of Paris. Her photography has been exhibited in both Paris and Poland and reflects her interests in culture, travel, sustainability, and wellness.

Terje is a full-time Norwegian photographer specializing in landscapes and cityscapes. He leads workshops in Paris, Italy, and the Dolomites, and knows Paris particularly well from previous workshops there. His work is showcased through exhibitions and available as fine art prints.

Most people join solo. We keep a friendly, supportive atmosphere, and you’ll quickly feel part of the group.

Paris is a walking city, and we’ll be on our feet quite a bit — but at a relaxed pace with breaks. Expect:
several kilometers of walking on most days
occasional stairs (metro and viewpoints)
Comfortable shoes make a big difference.

Yes — you’re welcome to bring a partner or spouse.
Partners are welcome to join the outdoor photo sessions as an observer and enjoy the locations with the group. However, coaching and tutoring are for registered participants only, and we’ll prioritize instruction time for the photographers on the workshop.
