Warsaw Street Photography Workshop

Warsaw is one of Europe’s most interesting cities for street photography, where layers of history, modern architecture, everyday city life, and visual contrasts come together in a powerful way. Over five days, participants will explore the city through street photography, urban landscape, architectural details, and black and white visual storytelling.
This workshop is designed for photographers who want to develop their ability to observe, anticipate, and respond to life in the streets. We will work with timing, composition, gestures, light, movement, backgrounds, and the small details that turn ordinary city scenes into stronger photographs.
Warsaw offers a rich mix of locations, from the modern lines around the Palace of Culture and Science to the historic streets of the Old Town, the character of Praga, and the open urban spaces along the Vistula riverfront. The workshop combines guided field sessions, image reviews, independent shooting, and practical exercises in the city.
It is a strong fit for photographers who enjoy street photography, black and white, city life, urban rhythm, architecture, and working toward a more personal visual story.

This workshop is not only about photographing Warsaw as a city, but about learning how to see and react more clearly in public spaces. The focus is on finding strong compositions in everyday scenes, understanding how people move through urban environments, and building images with stronger timing, structure, and atmosphere.
Throughout the workshop, participants will work both together with the instructor and independently. Guided sessions will focus on observation, positioning, timing, street portraits, ethical engagement, and how to use light, shadow, texture, and geometry in black and white photography.
The goal is for each participant to develop a more personal and cohesive photo reportage from Warsaw, using black and white as a way to simplify the image, strengthen the story, and bring visual consistency to a series
Areas we photograph
The workshop includes several visually different parts of Warsaw.
In Śródmieście, we will work with the busy rhythm of the city centre, modern business areas, historic streets, and the area around the Palace of Culture and Science. This is a strong location for practicing timing, layering, and movement in a dense urban environment.
In Praga, we will explore older streets, local life, weathered façades, and the contrast between historic character and modern structures. This district offers strong opportunities for both street photography and architectural studies.
Along Powiśle and the Vistula riverfront, we will work with open spaces, modern architecture, pedestrian movement, bridges, river life, and changing light. This area is especially well suited for building sequences with rhythm, structure, and atmosphere.
In the Old Town and along the Royal Route, we will photograph human presence within historic surroundings, working with geometry, light, narrow streets, open squares, and evening atmosphere.
Workshop rhythm
The workshop starts on the afternoon of November 18 with a welcome meeting, introduction, and first photography session in central Warsaw.
The following days combine morning image reviews, guided photography sessions in different parts of the city, independent shooting time, group discussions, and evening photography. The programme includes Praga, Powiśle, the Vistula riverfront, the Old Town, the Royal Route, and central Warsaw.
The workshop ends on November 22 with a final image review, a final photography session, group lunch, and wrap-up.
Practical information
Participants should bring good walking shoes, clothing suitable for November weather, camera equipment, extra batteries, memory cards, and a laptop or tablet if they want to edit and review images during the workshop.
Accommodation and meals are paid separately by each participant. The planned base is Hotel Logos Warszawa, and participants should book accommodation once their place on the workshop has been confirmed.
