Why join this workshop
This workshop is designed for photographers who want both great locations and real guidance in the field.
With two instructors and a maximum of 12 participants, we keep the group small enough to give you close support throughout the week. Our aim is not just to bring you to beautiful places, but to help you improve how you see, compose, and work with light and conditions on location.
Over eight days, we photograph some of the most rewarding landscapes in the Dolomites, from alpine lakes and mountain passes to dramatic peaks, meadows, ridgelines, and smaller intimate scenes. By staying in carefully selected bases along the route, we make the most of the time and keep the workshop focused on photography rather than unnecessary driving.
Early June is a beautiful time in the Dolomites. The mountains are fresh and green, the evenings are long, and the range of subjects is excellent. It is a fantastic season for photographers who want variety, strong light, and a well-paced workshop experience.
What to expect
This workshop combines iconic locations with hands-on instruction and a thoughtfully planned route through the Dolomites.
We photograph at sunrise and sunset whenever conditions are good, and use the middle of the day for travel, scouting, image review, rest, or locations that work well in softer or changing light. The exact rhythm may shift with weather and conditions, but the focus throughout is on helping you get the most out of each day.
During the workshop, we help you work on:
Composition in both grand landscapes and more intimate scenes
Use of foreground, depth, layering, and visual balance
Reading weather and mountain light
Camera settings and field technique
Making stronger image choices on location
Building a more consistent set of photographs from each session
The goal is not only that you come home with strong images, but that you leave with more confidence and a better understanding of how to approach landscape photography in the field.
Is this workshop right for you?
This workshop is suitable for enthusiastic beginners, intermediate photographers, and advanced photographers who want strong locations and personal guidance.
The trip is built around photography rather than demanding mountain hiking, but some locations do involve short walks, moderate trails, uneven ground, and steps. A reasonable level of mobility is therefore helpful.
If you enjoy landscape photography, want to improve your field skills, and like the idea of traveling with a small group in a well-organized setting, this workshop is likely a very good fit.
A typical day rhythm
Our days are planned around light, weather, and photographic opportunities.
We usually head out early for sunrise when conditions look promising, return for breakfast or travel depending on the plan, and use the middle of the day flexibly for relocation, scouting, image review, rest, or selected locations that suit the available light. In the late afternoon and evening, we head back out for sunset or blue-hour photography.
Some days begin early and end late. Other days are paced more gently depending on weather, travel, and the needs of the group. We adapt the flow of the workshop to make the most of the conditions while keeping the overall experience enjoyable and manageable.

Flights to/from Italy and personal travel insurance are also not included.
If you’d like to stay in Venice before or after the workshop, we’re happy to help arrange additional nights.
-
All workshop participants stay in comfortable 3–4 star hotels with single-occupancy rooms and private bathrooms.
If you bring a partner/spouse, you can share a double room instead. In that case, we’ll invoice the additional cost for double occupancy (amount depends on the specific hotels and room availability).
We’ll confirm room preferences after booking so we can reserve the right setup for each base.
-
We start at Venice Marco Polo Airport on Day 1 (pick-up at 11:00) and finish back at the airport on the last day (drop-off around 15:00).
After you register, you’ll receive a practical info sheet with meeting point details and suggested flight times.
-
Most days are built around the best light, with a flexible plan that adapts to weather and the group’s pace. A typical day may include:
Sunrise shoot (early start at a nearby viewpoint)
Breakfast + rest
A flexible midday plan (scouting, a short hike, image review, or a break depending on conditions)
Sunset / blue hour shoot
Optional evening review or discussion
On transfer days, we’ll move to a new base in the Dolomites. We keep these days efficient and still include photography:
short stops at scenic locations along the way
an afternoon/evening shoot near the new base (and sunrise the next morning)
We share the plan in advance so you always know what’s coming next.
-
Transport between bases and to shooting locations is arranged in comfortable vans, making it easy to reach a wide range of locations without stress. We also plan the logistics so you can focus on photography.
-
This isn’t a hiking-heavy workshop, but some locations do involve short walks or moderate trails. Expect a mix of steps, rocky paths, and gentle inclines. You should feel comfortable carrying your camera gear for short distances.
There’s also an optional hike of about 1.5 hours for anyone who wants to reach more remote viewpoints. It includes moderate elevation changes but offers some of the best photo opportunities of the trip.
-
Mountain weather can change quickly, and we plan for that. If conditions shift, we adapt by:
changing locations to match the light and cloud level
using forests, lakes, waterfalls, and moody scenes that work well in overcast/rain
adjusting timing to shoot during the best windows
You’ll still get strong shooting opportunities. description
-
This workshop works well for enthusiastic beginners through advanced photographers.
You don’t need to be an expert, but it helps if you’re comfortable with basic camera controls (aperture, shutter speed, ISO). We’ll meet you where you are and help you improve your technique and confidence.
If you’re unsure about gear, send us a quick note before departure and we’ll help you pack smart.
-
Yes — you’re welcome to bring a partner or spouse, as long as we have availability (they take up a seat in the vans).
A non-photographing partner can join the trip at a $1,000 discount compared to the standard workshop fee. They’re welcome to join the outdoor sessions and enjoy the locations with the group, but coaching and tutoring are reserved for registered photography participants.
Accommodation for partners is not included. If you’re sharing a room, we’ll invoice the additional cost for double occupancy (the exact amount depends on the room setup at each hotel).
Please let us know at the time of booking so we can reserve the right room arrangement.
-
When you register, a $500 deposit will be charged to secure your spot.
The remaining balance will be invoiced about one month before the workshop begins.
